Ok, for those of you who don't mind reading bits and pieces of this very thread topic on Catholic Defender's Community apologetics forum:
catholicdefende.6.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=47Let me quote myself from the opening thread post.
--------------begin quote--------------------------------
"What's a layman's definition of sola scriptura?
Sola Scriptura
--Scripture is the only infallible rule of faith.
[bolded to indicate Sola's linkage to the word "infallible,"
not to the word "only"]
Emphasis on the word infallible.
--Scripture is not the only rule of faith,
but it is the only infallible rule of faith.
All other proposed standards for doctrine or practice
must be judged in the light of Scripture."
[See my addendum below]
"What's a layman's definition of solo scriptura?
Solo Scriptura
--This term was coined to distinguish the view of Scripture held by many Protestants today
--the view that Scripture is the only rule of faith
--from the view promoted by the Protestant Reformers in the 16th
century. Solo Scriptura says that all we need is the Bible, that no creeds
or catechisms or ecclesiastical authority have lawful places in our
doctrinal thinking, but that each individual alone with his own copy of
the Bible is able to figure everything out all by himself and for himself."
[end Timothy G. Enloe quote from my harddrive text file]
Prima Scriptura is in my book a better bannerflag (name).
Prima, to me, is a better label than SolA.
TGE and I agree on SolO - it's bad Latin and bad practice.
My goal and practice: Prima/SolA, staying away from SolO.
And, I, Roland, much prefer to work with PrimaS as a lifelong process, rather than a doctrine.
Yes, the above is a quote, however, I fully accept TGE's wording as my own, and I practice same pretty much as he wrote SolA.
Addendum: To me, the process of Prima Scriptura can and will include magisteriums (teaching authorities) such as, but not limited to, references, dictionaries, encyclopedia, different English translations, different Bible Study systems and annotations, Catholic catechism/Comp and so on.

Ok, let th ediscussion begin!
I prefer we stay on this topic, and avoid bringing the hugies tradition, history, documentation into this thread. Let's make sure I was clear on what I believe and practice -- hopefully heading off assumptions.
