Hi everyone! I was just wondering what the oldest existing icon of any of the saints or God is? I am suspecting that a lot of them were destroyed by the Iconcoclasts when that heresy was first very prevalent. Am I correct?

Thanks! I'm not sure which one is supposed to be the oldest though.

That one appears too clear and precise to be the oldest.
I know that iconography is an ancient "art" but it is possible to tell the general age of an icon from its appearence.
Generally the oldest ones are more basic. The colours are more bold and there are less shades. Recently there has been a westernisation of the icon but it has come back into "vogue" for the icons to be in an ancient style.
