With God the only Fear is Fear itself.

Last night I was watching a documentary on the lives of the Black people of the inner cities vs those that have overcome, and now live in outside the ghetto areas...
In this show, the overwhelming concensus, fo those asked was that they had not gotten caught up in the attitudes and fears that kept them stuck in their enviroments, in the "revolving door". The famous Jesse Jackson when asked offered that he thought, that times and attitudes were changing that kept people from believing that they could overcome, but that this time it was not outside oppresion that was doing this but oppresion from within.
In another part of this show, there was a couple interviewed, that had overcome and that now lived in Atlanta, they lived in an upper middle class neighborhood. This neighborhood was a gated place that although anyone could buy houses there, most of the houses were owned by Blacks. What would happen was, as they put it, other people would come and look a the model home and then when it came to taking a look around the community would notice that it was almost all black and they would never come back. This to them was funny, because when it came to them they were expected to come to white neighborhood and buy property there, because they could now afford to do so, but now that they have money and they have come to this neighborhood the same was not being applied...
What this all boils down to is that, no matter how they achieve, or how they overcome the Fear is still there somewhere in people's minds. In the last case the people that lived in that community all were either, CEO's, Lawyers, Artists, ect.... So, they could not escape the stereotyping.
It is the Fear that has been inbred in us, through so much time now that makes us believe things about them that are not even there sometimes, instead of looking at them as individuals.... This fear has bred hatred. And until we all change our own mindsets, this Fear will always breed hatred.
The same goes for the many divisions that we have today, because this type of fear does not just apply to whites and blacks here in the United States and all around the world. It exists between races and it exists between political parties and it exists between religious sects.....
We have taken something that should not have been to begin with and then made it worse by fostering it. We have found excuses for it, and none of them in keeping with the Lord's true plan. It has caused Fear which has bred much hatred. So much so now that, when we have new people come to us we teach them that very same hatred...
I know in my case, I was learning to fear and hate, simply because I wanted to stay loyal to those around me, but I had no idea why. It is this lack of knowledge that also has fostered this enviroment.
Then I realized what I was doing. I also realized that I did not have to give up what I believed to be true in order to learn... to gain further understanding... to respect others... I can disagree with someone, yet at the same time respect them and admire them for their perseverence.
It is in this light that I have chosen to start this Holy Apostolic Connection with Our Lady of the Snows. I am a human being rich with diversity and unique to myself, and I want everyone here to remember that this is what we encourage....
We want all here to know each other for the beauty not only of what we have in common but also for the beauty of our vast diversity and our uniqueness as well.... We are a Community rich with it... Help us in our efforts to portray it in the positive light....
