This topic effects us all in how we understand the Lord's profound relationship to us since we are said created in His Image and Likeness...
Gen 1:26 And he said: Let us make man to our image and likeness: and let him have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and the beasts, and the whole earth, and every creeping creature that moveth upon the earth. Gen 1:27 And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him: male and female he created them.
The complexities of this issue do start here .... with the word changes from just one verse to another ....
Also another verse that is commonly used to validate the existence of the TriUNE nature of God ....
So, therefore we can see that it also relates to us in a smaller degree....
Since God is a Spiritual Being without the existence of flesh then it is presumed and rightly so that it we cannot be in His image to the degree that we are similar by fleshly standards, it must be instead because of the spiritual standards we posess.... This conclusion is logical....

my tidbits **between stars --rjs** This topic effects us all in how we understand the Lord's profound relationship to us since we are said created in His Image and Likeness... --Mystic Rose Gen 1:26 And he said: Let us make man to our image and likeness: and let him have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and the beasts, and the whole earth, and every creeping creature that moveth upon the earth. Gen 1:27 And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him: male and female he created them. **Interesting! Amidst two verses, God moved from plural to singular (not cingular, haha!). It's amazing concerning a few Ideas within different Christendom Entities that developed! One says our meant God and/or angels, another said...well, that's another topic. --rjs ** The complexities of this issue do start here .... with the word changes from just one verse to another .... --Mystic Rose **You're absolutely correct! --rjs** Also another verse that is commonly used to validate the existence of the TRIUNE nature of God .... --Mystic Rose **Actually, some of the Sabbatarian entities believe this plural "our" refers to a binitarian God - the Father and the Son, essence being of Holy Spirit. This Idea would take a separate thread to talk about --rjs ** So, therefore we can see that it also relates to us in a smaller degree.... --Mystic Rose Since God is a Spiritual Being without the existence of flesh then it is presumed and rightly so that it we cannot be in His image to the degree that we are similar by fleshly standards, it must be instead because of the spiritual standards we posess.... This conclusion is logical.... --Mystic Rose **You are correct! Wayne Gruden's Systematic Theology, and other such books, put it much more wordily - however, you said it best in a few words! --rjs **
